Cars and Coffee at Garage Collective

by Catalina Uhler

Our first Cars and Coffee of the year was a great success, even with dark rain clouds threatening to dump at any moment. Over 50 beautiful BMWs of all models and colors braved the cold and gloom to gather at Garage Collective in downtown San Diego.

Many thanks to Grayson, Myriah, Jasmine, Axel, and others at Garage Collective for helping coordinate a great cars and coffee event for both our SD BMW CCA and GC members. You might recall some of us had a chance to visit this amazing space in October 2021 when it was just an empty warehouse. Since then GC has created, in their own words, “a space where automotive enthusiasts can gather to hone their driving skills, showcase their automotive collection, kick back for a drink, take a business meeting, and enjoy the community of like-minded car-collecting friends”. They now have a welcome lounge, 4 full-motion racing simulators, pool table, conference room, white-wall automotive photobooth, secure onsite storage facility, and newly opened retail storefront with enthusiast-driven products and GC apparel. If you missed this event, you can still book your own tour of the GC clubhouse.

The GC clubhouse was a beautiful backdrop for all car enthusiasts to gather and ooh and aah over many BMWs while enjoying some hot coffee and delicious donuts. Some notable vehicles on display included an Isetta, a 2023 240 in Thundernight Metallic, an E36 M3 Lightweight, an E30 M3 in GC livery and several 2002’s. Amidst all the new and classic models was a unique 2023 i7 in Carbon Black Metallic (which sometimes looks deep blue). This all-electric executive sedan caught everyone’s attention with its full theater entertainment package with drop down panoramic screen. There were so many luxury and technology details included in this beauty. Thank you to Larry Coble, Parts Manager at BMW Encinitas/Vista, for bringing this vehicle, answering questions, and giving away BMW merch bags.

Thank you to everyone who made it out to our first event of the year. Keep an eye on our website calendar and social media for announcements on upcoming events.
