Welcome to the San Diego Chapter of the BMW Car Club of America.
Autocross and HPDE Helmets
YOU HAVE MORE TIME TO FIND YOUR SNELL 2015 HELMET! There was some confusion within our camp as to when the grace period ends for Snell 2005 helmets. After some clarification, for all BMW CCA sanctioned events, the grace period for 2005 Snell helmets will end 12/31/2016. Snell 2015 helmets should start hitting the market in less than one month, so maybe you can ask Santa for a new helmet for Christmas! And if Santa falls through, you'll still have all of 2016 to find your perfect Snell 2015 helmet.
The Board meets on the second Tuesday of each month at Giovanni's Pizza, 9353 Clairemont Mesa Blvd. The meeting is open to all chapter members and visitors. The club provides a selection of pizza and soda, starting around 5:45 PM. The board meeting starts at 6:30 PM. Visitors are welcome, come by and see what the chapter is planning.
The event will be held at Independent Motorcars on February 12 at 6:30 p.m.
This tech session will be geared to newcomers, novices and intermediate autocrossers, and will cover a multitude of topics relating to our chapter's autocross events. If you have never participated in autocross, this will be a great way to learn what it is all about, overcome any fears you may have for the well-being of your car, and learn about topics ranging from proper hand position on the steering wheel to adjusting tire pressures. We'll talk about simple tips to improve your car control, decrease lap times and increase the fun factor.
Chris Keefer of Independent Motorcars and Satakal Khalsa, our chapter's Equipmentmeister, will host the event. Our unofficial autocross caterer and crowd favorite, Aaron of Pro-Cooking, will be there serving up tacos. Please join us for a evening filled with great information, great people and great food! Hope to see you there. Please email firstname.lastname@example.org with any questions.
Back on February 20, 1962, John Glenn made history when he orbited the Earth in the Friendship 7 spacecraft. Maybe we're not quite lucky enough to be launched into space, but we do have the good fortune of a huge parking lot in which to do our own spectacular high-speed event. Join us as we do some four-wheeled revolutions in the West Lot of Qualcomm!
Since we're on Standard Time, we are limited to 80 participants. Register early!
Online registration is open on MSR until February 18th.
Registration is open at Motorsportreg.com. Early Bird registration fee is $449 through February 21, 2016. Early Bird NOVICE Registration fee is $399 through February 21.
