Some feedback has come in from advertisers on the new ad rates; some don't like paying a full year at once and other are not satisfied with the quality of the newsletter. Chris May will work on installment options for ad payments.

President’s Report:

An invitation was received from the Porsche club to join them for a Tire Tech Session at Discount Tire in Kearny Mesa on Sept. 12. Membership in our chapter is approximately 1400 people but only about 250 are actively involved in club events. The Club's financial position has turned around and is now improving. Board of Director elections will be held in December and updated descriptions of positions will be published in the November newsletter. A combined Board and Election meeting will be held on Dec. 11. Liberty Mutual and BMW USA has formed a partnership to offer insurance discounts; contact Chris May for more details.

Vice President's Report:

Welcome letters to new members were delayed but stationery is now available to get up to date. Arrangements for a Dyno Day are being finalized with a target date of Nov. 11. It would likely be three pulls for $50.00.

Autocross Director’s Report:

A hands-on bodywork Tech Session at Phil Thearle's Autowerks is coming up on Sept. 20. The Club was able to obtain 350 slightly used autocross cones from a private event organizer at no cost; they'll be used to replace some of the older, most damaged cones. The Sept. 15 autocross has 92 entrants pre-registered online. Remaining dates this year are on Oct. 21 and Nov. 17.

Driving Event Director's Report:

Scheduling for the 2008 Driving School will be upcoming; the goal will be to obtain an early date possibly in Feb. or March. A motion was made and approved to use MotorsportsReg.com to handle the school registrations.

An announcement from the L.A. chapter for a Vehicle Distribution Center Tour was included in the newsletter.

Social Director’s Report:

Almost all of the tickets for "Chicago" were sold. The total loss to the Club was $82.75 on the block of 25 tickets. A wine tasting/lunch tour is scheduled for Oct. 28 at Shadow Mt. Vineyards. The private lunch will be $22.00 per person and quantity discounts on bottles of wine will be available. RSVPs are required by Oct. 12.

Waxmeister’s Report

Dennis Damon and Gordon Anderson contacted the CEO of AutoNation regarding the situation with Encinitas BMW and commitments to the Clean Car Contest. AutoNation's Director of Western Marketing called Dennis and has committed the dealership to support the event at, or above, previous levels. The relationship between the Club and Encinitas BMW is now back on track. Continental Motors has been bought by North County BMW. Dennis and Gordon met with them and they have pledged to get involved with the Club and its events, advertising, etc. The Annual Holiday Party is scheduled for Dec. 9.

Webmeister’s Report:

Requests for Coronado Speed Festival car corral passes are being processed, along with tickets for the lunch sponsored by Cunningham BMW. A few volunteers will probably be needed to direct cars to the BMW corral parking at the event during the morning.

Other Business/Announcements:

BMW's Ultimate Drive for Susan G. Komen national tour event has local stops scheduled at Encinitas BMW on Sept. 29 and Cunningham BMW on Oct. 3.
