Recap of Recent Events:
The Women-only Tech session held this past Saturday was a great success. There was 10 women there, 3 of which were instructing. Kellie Alkayam, a technician from Harloff BMW, offered to lend a hand and show us what she looks for during an inspection. Kim Wright also demonstrated how to change the oil in an e46, and also how to jack up, and change a wheel using the factory equipment. There will definitely be more tech events in the future.
Newsletter:
There is nothing new to report, but we still need content.
Auto-cross Chair:
The last autox held on November 4th went very well. We accommodated approximately 90 cars and stuck to our old schedule except this time used hot worker changes. A motion was carried to allow course changes to only be done by the chief instructor, course designer and autox chair. It was also mentioned that we will probably need a couple new ice chests since we are having more and more people attend.
A motion was also carried to allow Rich to purachse a back-up reflector and laser head. Rich also replaced the battery in the timing device.
Driving School:
We currently don’t have a date for Buttonwillow yet, but we are hoping for a date hopefully in April. We are trying to avoid being withing 3 weeks of the Las Vegas driving school on the 17th of March. The new chief instructor will be Dan Tackett. Andre will be emailing volunteers soon to set up a date in early January for a meeting to help get organized for the event.
New Business:
Steve Johnson notified us that he will be running for the Pacific Regional Vice President position.
It was also mentioned that we are low on business cards. Connie will be looking into prices for more business cards and also more window decals.
Old Business:
Maureen Lyall reminded us that the board elections will be held next month on December 12th at 7pm. It is recommended that if you want to run for a position that you submit your statement for publication in the newsletter. The statements can also be posted online. Since Dan Tackett is possibly running for autox chair. John Driscoll will probably run the meeting. A motion was approved to spend $200 +shipping for postcards notifying the membership of the upcoming elections. It will also be required for members to show proof of membership in order to be able to vote. For those members who will be leaving their positions, it is recommended that you bring all paperwork/notes to hand it over to the new board member.
There was also discussion regarding donations for 2006. It was voted on and approved to donate $1,500/each to San Diego Hospice, Mama’s Kitchen, Volunteer San Diego, Becky’s House and Toys 4 Tots.
Upcoming Events:
The dyno day at the Dyno Shop in Santee will be held this Saturday. There are currently 28 cars rsvp’d.
Dennis reminded us that the holiday party will be held on Sunday, December 10th at the automotive museum. A $20 check for rsvp is needed, and upon arrival to the party, your check will be returned to you. We will also be having a gift exchange again, with gifts worth roughly $20. Dennis purchased 10 gift certificates all worth $100 at various establishments. Also, please try to rsvp by November 26th.
