BMWCCA San Diego Chapter – Board Meeting Minutes for July 10, 2007

Meeting called to order at 6:35 pm.

Board Members Present:

Secretary’s Report:

The June minutes were distributed and approved without change.

Treasurer’s Report:

A balance of $4,536.74 actual funds available was reported in the checking account; the CD balance is $7,678.47. The 2006 tax return has been filed.

President’s Report:

The Club will need to be careful with it's cash flow and ensure routine expenses, such as printing, are invoiced in a timely manner. The Newsletter/Finance committee analyzed expenses associated with the newsletter. New bid requests were sent to several printing companies to compare costs. Golden Ink, the current printer, came back with the lowest bid. A motion was made to continue with Golden Ink, using a less expensive printing process. The motion was approved. They will be asked to provided monthly invoices to be reviewed by the Newsletter Editor. Advertising rates have also been reviewed, with a goal of taking in approx. $2000 per month in order to cover printing costs. New ad rates were proposed as follows -- Full Page Inside Cover: $200, Half Page Inside Cover: $140, Full Page Internal: $160, Half Page Internal: $120, One-third Page: $60, Quarter Page: $50, Business Card: $30. Full and half page ads available at 11 issues for the price of 10. A motion to approve the proposed rates was passed. New ownership of Continental Motors in Oceanside was announced. BMWCCA Executive Director, Wynne Smith, is resigning and a search will be underway for a new director.

Autocross Director’s Report:

The July 21-22 autocross will feature trophies sponsored by Cunningham BMW. Dinan gift certificates that were not included in the Clean Car auction will be auctioned off on July 21. Remaining autocross dates for 2007 are: Sept. 23, Oct. 21, and Nov. 17. Satch Carlson is moving to San Diego and the hope is to have him come out to some of the autocrosses and other events. U-T Wheels Section editor, Mark Maynard, will also be invited to cover an autocross.

Newsletter Editor’s Report:

Newsletter issues covered during President's report. Pricing will also be researched to produce updated Chapter decals.

Social Director’s Report:

Tickets for "Chicago" are still available. A harbor cruise could be organized if there is enough interest. A wine tasting tour, possibly at Deer Park Winery/Auto Museum, is being considered for Oct. 28.

Waxmeister’s Report

A swap meet held in conjunction with a fall autocross date will be investigated. Follow up with BMW Encinitas regarding outstanding commitments from the Clean Car event will be pursued. Brecht BMW is onboard for future sponsorship.

Webmeister’s Report:

The Yahoo! email group will be monitored to eliminate spam messages. Arrangements for Club attendance at Coronado Speed Festival will be forthcoming.

Other Business:

Kim Wright will chair the August meeting in Gordon's absence.
