Minutes for February 14th, 2006


The meeting started at approximately 7:05 pm


Board Members Present:

Dennis Damon, Rich Gehring, Maureen Lyall, William Woolard, Jim Patterson, Chris May, Mike Turpin, George Georges, Andre Panic, Gordon Anderson, Ping Gordo


Members Present:

Lilian Gordo, Tom Newport, Connie Patterson, James Ekarheardt, Dusty Gabey, David Ornitz, Jim Lloyd, Gary Basey, Duane Steadman, Scott Sansom, Dan Tackett.


Treasurer’s Report:

$49K current balance with much of Buttonwillow expenses due.


Secretary's Report:

The January minutes were not available for viewing at the meeting since Kim was not present at the February meeting. Scott Samson filled in for the evening.


President's Report:

Membership Participation – Maureen; versus new members; ideas include “teaser” cover of Foreign Affairs; all female event like Autocross or tech. Session; discounted events for target groups such as 25 or younger.


Vice President's Report:

Member Survey – Jim; planning survey on either web site or newsletter; Andre, Dan, & Tom to help; may ask for e-mail information.


Autocross:

February Autocross turned away 5 or 6 BMWs; next autocross 3/25/06 in the West Lot; dates for 2nd half of the year will be determined in June.


Driving School:

The truck now has a new transmission and some new tires; some students dropped out with 112 the current number singed up; some instructors are staying at the Willow Inn; 20 A students have been invited for running on Friday; weather (rain) may be a possibility; dinner is planned at the Willow Ranch.


Social Events:

Nethercutt Museum - Andre; all on schedule with 30 signed up so far.

April Rally – Andre; 5/7/06 (Sunday) date picked; Continental Motors is the major sponsor; rally to start from the Oceanside Harbor area.

5er Club - Maureen; to visit the 3/25/06 Autocross as a social event.


Street Survival Course – Matt; 5/6/06 date; lining up management details including water for the course; advertising is being planned; the Foundation will pickup costs but also working on limited sponsorship; will need approximately 20 instructors and 10 other helpers; 40 maximum number of students to maintain (2:1 student-instructor ratio); $60 current entry fees includes BMW CCA membership; may offer scholarships; morning tech. Inspection; possible discount to youths from the city.


Webmaster:

Jim has implemented anti-SPAM methods; discussed alias names for board members.


Clean Car Contest:

Dennis motion to use National allotted funds for charity voted and approved.


Other Topics:

Los Angeles Chapter Events – Maureen; planning 8 autocrosses, track driving events, and a clean car contest.


Membership Chairman – Jim now handling as vice-president.


El Centro Naval Air Station – Tom; see the Blue Angles 3/11/06 without all the crowds; Tom to attend.


Commercial Advertising Manager – Maureen; Gary Basey volunteered for the position.


Events Planning – Maureen; bring calendars to next meeting (March); to incorporate with other notable area events; plan for the year and a couple of months into next year.
