President's Report:
Planning process for upcoming events needs to include plenty of lead time to allow for adequate publicizing in newsletter and website. It's possible this year's Driving School may lose money. The Club will need to be careful with finances this year and may need to cut back on charitable contributions. The idea of a Car Control Clinic or Street Survival School was raised. It would require a volunteer to take the lead on organizing a team to coordinate and promote the event. Scheduling events at the stadium will be more restricted in the fall but other venues for a Clinic could be possible. Information for members interested in obtaining name tags will be posted on the website and in the newsletter. A Tech Session is scheduled at Brecht BMW to showcase the new X5 and Mini on July 19. Representatives from Revved Up Kustoms presented the various services provided at their shop and offered to host a Dyno Day. Scheduling to be determined pending establishment of the Fall autocross schedule. Steve Johnson was congratulated on winning the BMWCCA Pacific Region V.P. election.
Vice President's Report:
Welcome letters continue to be sent out to new members, approximately 30 last month.
Autocross Director's Report:
There were 116 participants at the March 31 autocross, netting $1,489. Cunningham BMW sponsored water for the event. The next autocross is scheduled for May 27 and is anticipated to utilize an online payment and pre-registration process. The timing system upgrade has been researched and AXWare software recommended to replace the current system. It is a complete system, compatible with existing equipment, and used by SCCA and other chapters. A motion was approved to spend up to $1500.00 for the new system. Ideas for establishing a perpetual Rug Cunningham Memorial Award will be considered. Cunningham BMW would fund the driving-related award. A Tech Session showcasing the new BMW engine is planned at Cunningham BMW on June 28.
Driving School Director's Report:
Toyo Tires has been confirmed as a sponsor. Student acceptance packets are ready and posted on the website. The event is being advertised in Roundel, L.A. Chapter, and online forums. If enrollment is too low to make the event financially sound, cancellation may need to be considered.
Newsletter Editor's Report:
Submissions for the newsletter are preferred in RTF, PDF, or Word .doc formats. The July newsletter will be a color issue.
Social Director's Report:
Upcoming events: June 10 Sunday Brunch at Pine Hills Lodge; August 4 Padres game vs. S.F. Giants; Sept. 9 performance of Chicago at Civic Theatre.
